Refugee: Under the INA, a refugee is any individual who is no longer in their country of nationality or origin, and is unable or unwilling to return to their home country for fear of persecution over the individual’s race, religion, nationality, political views, or belonging to a certain social group (101(a)(42) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA)).
